Dr. Tomayia Colvin, a Houston Black Female Photographer, is an award-winning high school senior and personal branding photographer based in the state of Texas. She’s the founder of an online education platform for photographers called Tomayia Colvin Education (TCE) that empowers photographers of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and be a safe haven of inclusion and diversity. She’s also an author of a bestselling children’s book called “Mya’s Big Adventures: Career Day,” that inspires creative children of all ages who beat to their own drum to live out their wildest dreams. The Photo Cookout

Sony Artisan Dr. Tomayia Colvin is the founder and host of The Photo Cookout that celebrates black photographers and photographers of color. It is the first-ever photography conference for Black photographers.

Recently, Dr. Tomayia Colvin just attended this event that took place in Orlando, Florida. Those who can’t attend in person were also given the chance to join virtually and for free. Sony Artisans Kesha Lambert, Jermaine Horton, and Alpha Female+ Grant Winner Rhonisha Franklin, plus other skilled photographers were also present at this very successful conference. Education Leader

Dr. Tomayia Colvin was the founder of Tomayia Colvin Education. Tomayia Colvin Education is an online community created to empower Black and photographers of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups. A safe haven of inclusion and diversity.” She was a classroom teacher for more than 10 years. She’s been an educator on Creative Live, WPPI, Imaging USA, United hosted by Showit, and a host of others. Her doctoral studies included the study of the success of Black women photographers, educational and organizational leadership, and community.

She has a passion for what she does and loved photography so much that she has been featured in articles in Professional Photography Magazine, Rangefinder Magazine, Shootproof, Black Enterprise, local newspapers, and radio stations across the Houston area.
