Stepping out of car, I heard the marrachi bands warming up for the Fiestas Patrias parade and I knew the music was playing for me, for us. The eight women who would finally meet in person that had one thing in common: a love for photography. The strand that held us together. The laughs, the excitement, who else would oh and ah over a brick wall or an empty black chair! Snapping pics of unsuspecting strangers and exchanging camera talk the entire way as we walked topped off an experience like non other. We explored downtown Houston a way only we could celebrate ourselves and being apart of something much greater: National Black Female Photographers Day.
Held in 15 cities across the U.S. black women bonded regardless of preference of Canon or Nikon and just enjoyed a day of doing we do best, snapping photos! Here’s my photo journey of downtown Houston!
Thanks for watching!
