Sunday was an absolutely amazing experience: Hosting my first-ever high-school-senior Shoot Out in my hometown of Houston, Texas! A Shoot Out is an educational day where photographers who don’t have a lot of senior photos in their portfolios—or want to update the ones they have with fresh looks!—learn techniques, trade tips, and have an awesome time!

 

We started with three amazing senior models, Houston makeup by Krystal from Kolour Theory Makeup Artistry, and fashion-forward outfits picked out by our four Shoot Out attendees, so it’s no wonder they all captured some absolutely awesome shots!

 The attendees asked great questions on lighting, posing, camera settings, or anything else they could think of, and our amazing models, lots of laughs, and a great lunch from Italiano’s made it the perfect Sunday afternoon.  I can’t wait until the next one in the spring! A special thanks to ExpoImaging for the amazing door prizes each attendee received!

This was such a wonderful experience for me. I came in with knots in my stomach, not knowing what to expect. I was immediately put at ease, with a warm reception, as Tomayia answered all my questions, as she set up a beautifully styled session. With guidance and lots of encouragement, I noticed that my images began to pop, were better composed, less limb chopping, and OMG were so much more sharper. I felt more comfortable adjusting my settings, using my reflector,  (I have a love hate relationship with the sun, uggh) also as I watched Tomayia interacting with clients, (yeah Dyanna, it’s ok to be silly in front of the client). The other photographers there were so welcoming, I thought I was in Charlie’s Chocolate Factory! This event was so relaxed and fun filled. I left feeling more confident, and wanting more. I can’t wait for the next shootout.

I had an amazing time at the TCP Senior Shoot Out! Shooting along side other photographers really allowed me to spread my wings and be my eccentric self while capturing these beautiful models. Tomayia always goes above and beyond to plan awesome sessions with amazing details! I seriously can’t wait for the next shoot out!
