Have you ever had one of those moments when something remarkable happens and you have to pinch yourself? That’s exactly what happened when I received the email that I had been selected to present during WPPI at Kevin Kubota’s Photographers Ignite!
Photographers Unboxed! Step Out of Your Photography Box and into Your Community
My Why:
Teens hold a very special place in my heart. For years growing up, although I lived in a house full of people I sometimes felt as though I had no one to really be open with. I didn’t want to tell my family about my “boyfriend issues” or even at size 0, there were some days that I just didn’t feel pretty. After being in the classroom with high school teens, I realized the same was ringing true for them. They needed someone to reach out too as well with those awkward questions and to have a support system away from home. I was the teacher that so many of my students and the photographer/mentor that my clients depended on. My thought was that if collectively photographers could join forces together we could inspire change and be the support system that our teens need.
“Be the change that you want to see in the world”- Gandhi
My photography exhibition, The Unboxed Project™, is doing just that- Inspiring teens across the United States to be more! Please join me on my quest to give back to our communities by giving back to your community. How will you be “Unboxed” and give back?
